ECC cheer adds Finn to 2018 roster

The Ellsworth Community College 2018 Cheer team has started building its roster with Iowa Falls-Alden senior Anneka Finn.

Finn's love of cheerleading started early in life, when she participated in 3rd-6th grades at ECC's Summer Cheer Camps under the direction of Micki Virden. During her high school sophomore through senior years, Finn cheered in the football and basketball seasons, as well as during cheer competitions.

"I wasn't planning on continuing to cheer, but I liked the idea of Coach Reed coaching me in college," says Finn. "She made me want to tryout for the ECC team. I'm excited to compete at the next level with Coach Reed, and I look forward to the new experiences and higher level of cheer that I will have at ECC."

Coach Katie Reed says she is excited that Finn was her first signee for the upcoming season. "With the sophomores we have leaving, I feel reassured now that I have someone on the team that I know is going to fit in well. I know who Anneka is as a person and am aware of her capabilities. I know she will be a strong base and leader for our team."

Tryouts for the ECC Cheer team will be on Saturday, April 28; videos must be submitted to Coach Reed by April 15.
