Ellsworth Community College baseball's Trent Bauer has signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Western Illinois in Macomb, IL.
Bauer, (Green Bay, WI) a catcher and outfielder for the Panthers, played in 56 games. He had 61 hits including 13 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homeruns and 39 RBIs. He had a .308 batting average.
"I had a great experience overall at ECC," says Bauer. "The coaching staff was always kind and did their best to make sure that I succeeded. As far as baseball, the two years I spent playing here are years that I will never forget and I gained many lifelong friends because of it."
When making his decision on his next step after ECC, Bauer wanted to continue somewhere he could devlop more as a player and a person. "I chose Western Illinois because I really liked the coaching staff and what they had to offer."
"I'm fired up for Trent," says ECC Head Baseball Coach Travis Akre. "He battled some injuries but never lost focus of his dream to play Division I baseball. His patience paid off. He sees the game really well and when his career is over, he's going to make a really good coach. I'm proud of him."
