Greg Anderberg signs with George Washington University

Ellsworth Community College baseball's Greg Anderberg has signed to continue his academic and athletic career at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Anderberg (Ankeny, IA) was a catcher for the Panthers for two seasons. This year he had a batting average of .313. He had 45 hits including 11 doubles and 2 homeruns with 24 RBIs. He also had a .983 fielding percentage.

"My experience at Ellsworth was great," commented Anderberg. "I learned a lot in the classroom, on the field, and more importantly, life. Going to ECC led to many opportunities I did not have before. One of those opportunities includes attending George Washington University."

When making his decision on his next step after ECC, Anderberg considered both athletics and academics. "I chose George Washington because it is a good baseball fit with some great coaches and is highly regarded for its academics as well."

"I couldn't be happier for Greg," says ECC Head Baseball Coach Travis Akre. "He's going to the Atlantic 10 conference, which is quality baseball. Greg turned into the best defensive catcher I've ever coached. I give a lot of credit to former assistant coach Asaad Ali; he really gave Greg a great foundation. Greg believed in us and we believed in him. I'm really looking forward to following his future at GW."
