ECC baseball signs three to move on

One of the goals of any junior college athletic program is to develop student-athletes and help them move on to compete at the next level. Ellsworth Community College Baseball is happy to announce that three of its sophomores have signed to move on and continue their academic and athletic careers.

Kevin Raisbeck (Beloit, WI) has signed to play at DI Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. Last year Raisbeck finished the season with .302 batting average, .916 fielding percentage, and 22 RBI's.

Trevor Smisek (New Prague, MN) will be continuing his career at DII Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, FL. A left-handed pitcher for the Panthers, last season Smisek averaged 5.69 strikeouts per game and had a .909 fielding percentage.

Kyle Schmitt (Waukee, IA) has signed with DI University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, SC. Schmitt is a right-handed pitcher for the Panthers. Last season he averaged 7.96 strikeouts per game as well as a .889 fielding percentage.

"Our staff and teammates are extremely proud of these three student-athletes," commented ECC Head Baseball Coach Travis Akre. "These gentlemen were able to find schools that fit them not only on the field, but also what they were looking for academically. Now these student-athletes can focus their efforts to our season and the classroom."
